Here at Kermanshah Oriental Rugs Gallery, we carry a large variety of authentic genuine hand-woven rugs. Unfortunately, in todays current market we are exposed to rugs that are similar to hand-woven but are different in quality and make. We would like to provide an important information for customers before they consider purchasing any type of rug.

When you are shopping around for rugs, make sure to look or ask what type of material it is made from. A genuine rug is typically made from wool, silk, or a combination of both. However, you can find similar design patterns but made from synthetic materials such as "Polypropylene".  Polypropylene is a synthetic thermo-plastic material made from "polymerizing" propylene and it can be used to make bottles, pipes, upholstery, and carpets.

Machine made rugs are either from polypropylene or other synthetic materials such as nylon and acrylic. They are priced low, however they are extremely low in quality and can cause health issues. As far as quality , they have a much lower life-span and the fibers tend to break up more easily. This causes the carpet to not only deteriorate, but also be harmful to human contact.  When you walk or vacuum a synthetic rug the fibers break down and when you inhale (dust fibers) you can start to develop health problems. These rugs can endanger your child's health and also "degrade the quality of the environment." This can also be harmful for your pets at home.
